**Hey everybody!** I am Loriborn, and I'm the caretaker of The Tabletop Place, a Lemmy instance dedicated to the support of communities and discussion surrounding boardgames, tabletop games, roleplaying games, and all related interests. We have a number of rules you can find on our home page, but more than anything else, we encourage civil discourse and want to maintain a healthy and welcoming environment for our members. I currently also moderate r/frostgrave, and run the Frostgrave.net wiki. This is going to serve as an introductory post to our community here at The Tabletop Place. Some of you may be joining from some of the subreddits where moderators have graciously allowed us to share the site with. Many of these subreddits should already have communities here on this instance, but if you don't see your community here, don't hesitate to ask, and one can be created, with moderators assigned either from its respective original subreddit, or of existing moderation team, if they so desire. If you are unfamiliar with Lemmy, Federation, or the concept of instancing posts and communities, there are resources available on the official Lemmy website and Github pages that can be found at the bottom of the site. The best app, at the moment at least, for browsing and posting on Lemmy instances is Jerboa. You may also notice that federation on other communities is currently limited, as those communities, especially larger ones, need to accept The Tabletop Place first, before you'll be able to accurately see posts and comments. These should come in time as the community's user count grows. Additionally, custom avatars and profiles are highly encouraged! If you are a new user who has joined as a moderator of another community, please mention so in your application, and post here so I can apply moderator status for your applicable communities! Thanks again, and welcome to The Tabletop Place!

Five more Ashigaru primed and ready for paint. STL from Saga Minis on MMF.

I've just finished tweaking this Leman Russ proxy, inspired by the very original model released for Epic back in the 80s. It's designed to be easy to print in FDM (no supports required for printing), the one pictured was printed on a stock Ender 3. I'm fairly happy with how this one turned out, I've a little bit of tidying up to do, but hope to have the model up on Cults3D next week.

Here are some Vendel warriors that I just finished. Not sure what I'll use them for yet, just liked the sculpts. STLs from Medbury Miniatures.

Stargrave: Last Prospector Battle #7 Glad to see more videos by B&B!

I'm still pretty new to painting minis, but this has been a fun and pretty simple color scheme that looks (imo) pretty good too!

Progress has sort of stalled on the rest of the mob, but I thought you might like to see the first three members of my Gorkamorka boys.

Some quick medieval ruins I recently completed. 6mm scale from TheLazyForger on MMF.

I've painted a couple of figures over the past year or two but this is my first army having tried to get into it a lot more these past few weeks. I did them all one by one going one colour at a time. Printed on my 3d printer, comments and suggestions are very welcome. I would love to get a lot better!

Played a pretty congested game with four players each with six man squads. The side hustle cards are great and added a ton of fun uncertainty eyeing each other up waiting for a card to be revealed. Unfortunately I rolled like I usually do and limped off the table with only one treasure and a small side hustle objective. The side hustle cards, in my opinion, are a must buy and add a ton of fun to your games.

Recently been painting up Forest Dragon's Warmaster miniatures scaled to 15mm for custom scaled Frostgrave and Oathmark, and wanted to try out Army Painter's new 2.0 speedpaints, and I've been pleasantly surprised by the results! They dry a bit faster than I'd like, to the point of drying on-brush, but other than that, no complaints. Still needs basing!

Should I invest in washes as a beginner?
So I'm getting ready to dive into the world of finally painting my Star Wars Legion minis. I'm planning on getting an Army Painter speedpaint 2.0 set to start. Should I also buy the wash set? I'm not sure if it would improve my results as a beginner, though I imagine I will want them if I keep up with painting. I'm intending to start by getting this Army Painter's stuff: Speedpaint most wanted 2.0 set Most wanted brush set Matte white primer Matte varnish Project paint Station

Really enjoyed painting these. Sculpts by Medbury Miniatures

I'm trying my hand at printing an extra-galactic bug army on my D2 Ultra. Here's my first finished print, printed on anycubic's DLP craftsman resin.

Printed up some Balearic slingers for some upcoming games. New resin which I hadn't dialed in properly, just pour and go. As such some of the detail seems lost, especially in the face.

I'm DMing my first DnD campaign for a group of friends, and they're about to face their first boss fight after 3 sessions. Printed on an anycubic photon D2 ultra in anycubic craftsman DLP resin.

Made a lot of mistakes such as magnetizing all arms and choosing a bone white colour scheme for the weapons which shows tiny errors immeadiately. All in all I like how they look from far away. Just don't pick up any for inspection. Related MWM video: https://youtube.com/watch?v=ModGwlC2vdI More pictures: https://kruulos.org/minis/Start_Collecting!_Craftworlds/

What’s everyone been playing this week
For me Sunday is game day and this past Sunday we played tiny epic tactics, an adorably tiny but surprisingly deep turn based tactics game, and ramen fury, a bite sized combo building game where you each compete to make the tastiest bowls of ramen. Of the two I feel l will reach for tiny epic tactics whenever I've got that competitive grid based tactics itch and may even consider grabbing the expansions. Ramen fury failed to catch the magic for me and will probably remain on the shelf.

Printed on an Ender 3 V2 with a 0.2mm nozzle

Need Help Deciding: Gamemaster Character Paint Set or Reaper Miniatures Learn to Paint Kit?
Hey, painters! I'm in a bit of a dilemma and could really use your advice. I've been thinking about getting into the miniature painting hobby, but I can't decide between the Gamemaster Character Paint Set and the Reaper Miniatures Learn to Paint Kit. My main goal is to explore this hobby and determine whether it's something I enjoy and want to continue investing my time and money in.

The color scheme is inspired by a boss called the Great and Mighty Poo (a giant pile of poop) from Conkers Bad Fur Day.

Printed and painted up some Etruscan allies in 6mm. Slowly expanding the force.

The other day I posted some goblins I made and painted, this weekend I painted the guards that I made for my upcoming campaign. The painting is getting a lot better and I am very proud of these ones. Let me know what you think!

What color primer to use?
So I'm about to begin painting for the first time, but I'm not sure what colors to buy. I play Star Wars Legion so I'll be painting a bunch of stormtroopers, death troopers, and other very monocolor minis. Should I use black and white primers for them? Or do neutral grey and paint the colors? Bonus points if anyone can tell me if wildspire minis are good for a first time project.

Replacement brush for Tamiya Extra Thin
Okay, so this isn't painting, but I figured someone would know something about this. What kind of material us the Tamiya extra thin brush made of? I tried to use some cheap synthetic paint brushes with it, but they hardened and broke apart. Anyone have any luck finding a decent brush to use when applying extra thin for assembly?
