I procrastinate from my real work by designing retro miniatures, you can find them all here https://cults3d.com/en/users/Doctor-Spork/creations

The stl is available for free on Cults3D https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/retro-warp-portal Anyone else remember this? ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/228f205a-31d6-4c4c-b241-c79aeaa770ff.jpeg)

There is, but they aren’t very active I’m afraid. These models are available for free on thingiverse:

https://www.thingiverse.com/jazzmantis/designs.

The same person does does better quality paid designs under the name Red Nebular these days:

https://www.myminifactory.com/users/Red Nebular

If you are likely to buy a few things from them join their patreon.

And if you want something to proxy as a truck you can find a lovely retro model here:

https://cults3d.com/en/users/Doctor-Spork/3d-models

If you have any other questions let me know, I’m in the process of trying to build a retro 3D printed ork army.

There certainly is, I missed the last one as I was concentrating on my warboss so really wanted to take part this time. Not sure I’ll win this one.

Thanks, I am quite pleased with the axe.

A blessing from slannesh themselves.

You seem to have found it, sadly I don’t think you get amazing trophies for this competition.

This fella was an ebay rescue that came with so much paint on it that I wasn't sure if he was actually this model. So I stripped him and did my best to give him a new lease of life as the first of my Emperors Children. And now he is my entry for the fedipaint painting contest over on Mastodon.

I think I saw you post that you had used some different models, but I said that I would send you a link when they were up so here you go https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/retro-gothic-ruins

Can’t wait to read your battle report.

Can you find anyone who provides samples?

I have used this website (UK based so no help to you I’m afraid) in the past and they provide small quantities of filament for you try https://3dfilaprint.com/filament-samples/

Might be worth having a look around to see if there is anyone stateside who does a similar service.

can I recommend the latest episode of The Bedroom Battlefields Tabletop Miniature Hobby Podcast? Matthew was kind enough to invite me on to talk nonsense about what I like to get up to with miniatures and being a warhammer nerd on the 90's. Just search “Tabletop Miniature Hobby Podcast” on whatever you listen to podcasts.

I know! I downloaded it here if you have a printer

https://www.youmagine.com/designs/great-gargant-ork-w40k

He’s got a pretty cool Skullhammer on there too.

Cheers. Honestly even I’m pretty impressed with how these are turning out. Which is unusual, I’m normally my own worst critic.

Your post about that here inspired this project.

I’m still working through the last few ruins, but once they are done it will be up on my Cults 3D page. I don’t have a fixed timescale, but some time this year (it might be next week, it might be next month, it might be a little longer, real life dictates the time I have to work on it a the moment).

Which retro ork prints are you using? I know that there are scans of the 2nd edition starter models floating around, but if you want something a bit more dynamic Jazzmantis/Red Nebular has some lovely free and paid options.

Thanks.

I’m making 20 pieces that are inspired by the original set but they have been scaled up a bit and I had to adjust the design and proportions. The old 2D art doesn’t actually make sense when you start trying to translate it into 3D.

You should be able to do what you are after I think.

Clean colour scheme, that looks amazing. Xenos beware.

Thanks for all the lovely comments, didn’t expect much of a reaction to this little cowboy.

They are prints, look up Jazzmantis on cults or thingiverse.

It sounds like you made 3 Goblins in a suit of armour. But we don’t talk about private Jenkins, he’s a good fighter with a fine collection of boots.

I have a fairly bizarre workflow due to my background in 3D modelling (I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone). I did the early concept work in an old copy of Sketch-up pro (for speed), finished it off in blender and then re-scaled the models in Cura (because it’s less of a faff than doing it in blender).

I’ve packed these guys away as I’ll not be doing much with them for a while, but I’ll post other FDM 3D printed minis and try to get some better pictures. I’m fairly new to miniature photography, but I’m learning so hopefully future photos will show details better.

“You see deeze stripes, day is hazard stripes. Dis is hazardous. See I just gon an chopped you in half wiv it.”

They are 3D prints, the designs are by Jazzmantis on Thingiverse

Progress has sort of stalled on the rest of the mob, but I thought you might like to see the first three members of my Gorkamorka boys.

Thanks, I’ve been practicing making models that don’t need supports to print in FDM for a while. It really helps the finished pieces look clean when printed.

Maybe I’ll make an ork add-on kit at some point, I plan to use all my early test prints to make a looted one for my orks as I can just cover over all the bad bits with random armour plates.

I’ll post again when it’s up on cults.

The tanks has some generic weapons attached to it in this picture. The rows in front show the other weapons options that will be available, the larger seven can be mounted to the turret and the smaller five can be fitted to the sponsons or hull.

I've just finished tweaking this Leman Russ proxy, inspired by the very original model released for Epic back in the 80s. It's designed to be easy to print in FDM (no supports required for printing), the one pictured was printed on a stock Ender 3. I'm fairly happy with how this one turned out, I've a little bit of tidying up to do, but hope to have the model up on Cults3D next week.

I’d like to give a shout out to The Oldhammer Fiction Podcast. It’s nothing complicated, just a guy reading some old warhammer stories. I find it quite relaxing.

Thanks, hopefully I can do the sculpting justice with my painting! :/

Yes and yes and thank you.

They were printed on a stock Ender 3 (okay I replaced the plastic extruder with a metal one, but that makes absolutely no difference to the print quality). I also used a 0.2mm nozzle and a lot of patience.

The guardsmen were printed from scans of the original 80s plastic kit the ogryns are scans of the 90s metal ones and the commissar is from cults3d. All printed on an Ender 3 with a 0.2mm nozzle (apart from the bases, they used a 0.4mm nozzle, I'm not insane).

I picked up these old boys in a couple of ebay lots, one was missing a set of spikes so I decided to practice my sculpting skills. One thing led to another and I decided to see if I could make them a bit more dynamic than the original sculpts. What do you guys think? Original poses for reference: ![](https://sopuli.xyz/pictrs/image/5901a783-b006-4b99-ad09-fe0d70642fcd.jpeg)
